Artist Statement
I’m Denice Peters, professional fine artist, living with my husband in rural Iowa. Painting landscapes is my passion. I feel empty without art. And, I am always amazed at the beauty around us, everyday. God has created a wonderful world for us to enjoy. Many of us today overlook the things we see each day, and if my work brings a little appreciation of nature and our place in it, then I feel I’ll have succeeded.
My art philosophy is that it should bring joy and appreciation of our surroundings. It should be attractive to look at and bring you peace. Life is too short to do otherwise. I strive for realism, so everyone can relate to what I see.
I have gravitated to Pastels as my medium of choice. It allows me to get that "hands on feel", where I get right in there and blend with my fingers. I become part of my work in many ways. It is a beautiful medium and versatile, yet demanding. I hope a piece of my soul is found in each work. And that others may find a piece of theirs as well.
